PHEW!!! My first workout has been completed, and I feel AMAZING! Tomorrow may be a different story, but for now I’m just enjoying the feeling of knowing I am one day closer to being Fit & Fab at 50!
I didn’t really talk much in my past post about what my plans are for this self-imposed challenge, so I’ll attempt to do so now.
I’m now a certified nutrition coach so I am taking my own advice, and I am starting slow.
Why so many of us fail on our weight loss journey is because we go too hard, too fast. It’s like we try to instantly become this clean-eating gym junkie overnight, and it’s just not sustainable!
So here’s what I’m going to be doing:
Nutrition
Instead of going straight from my current diet to 100% whole foods, I am easing myself in, so here’s what my first week will look like:
- Healthy breakfast at least 5 x per week
- Healthy lunch at least 4 x per week
- While I will try to eat whole foods at dinner, I won’t be strict in week 1
- I can only have beer on Friday nights and Saturday nights (!)
- I will practise mindful eating – this is where you really slow down your eating pace, so you can really enjoy your meals.
Fitness
I’m not going to go too hard here – I always start off well, then it dies off, so for now I’ve decided to start off on a 90 day program, but I will not force myself to stick to it to the letter. Here’s what I’m doing:
- Exercise at least 3 x per week, but I’ll attempt to do up to 6 days per week – for at least 15 minutes per day
- I will go for one long walk on the weekend or on my day off on Thursdays
Mindset
I should have put this one first… because mindset is mostly everything!
Firstly I need to have a goal, so my goal is to be healthy, fit, and strong. I want to look and feel toned, I want to feel energetic, and I want to look and feel fit!
Right now I weigh 63kg (around 138lbs), so I don’t have a lot to lose. I probably want to get to around 57kg (125lbs) by 8 November 2021. This may not seem like much but I’m quite small boned, and I started off with a lower goal before I remembered that I want to build some muscle too, so I can’t go too silly!
I’m one of those “skinny fat” people (or was that “fat skinny”??) who doesn’t look overweight, but I know I have excess fat on my body, and I’d really love to send it packing!
