Weight Loss is more than diet and exercise

June 16, 2020 by Michelle

While diet and exercise are an important factor to having good health and maintaining a healthy weight, what often gets forgotten is the emotional or mental aspect of having a healthy body.

If you believe to your core that you are overweight and will never be anything but overweight, no amount of perfect eating and exercising regularly will bring you the results you desire.

This is why we see people struggling to not only lose the weight, but to keep it off long term.

So can this be fixed?

Of course it can! But of course it will take some “work”, and I don’t mean the physical type of work such as dieting or exercise!

To get started on dealing with these limiting beliefs, here are a few steps you can implement starting today, to begin the process of resolving what may be the only thing which is holding you back:

  1. Decide what you want – you’ve got to get really specific. Imagine yourself at your goal weight. How will you feel? What will you look like? Will there be a change in the way you walk, now that you have the added confidence, knowing you look and feel great? Imagine the whole lot, and really experience the feelings of achieving your goal.
  2. Whenever you notice yourself being focused on your weight problem, shift your thoughts back to Step 1 above. Only focus on what you DO want – not on what you don’t want! This is so so so so important!
  3. Look around you at the people you surround yourself with. Are they positive, lighthearted and living a happy and healthy life, or are they also struggling with their weight, down in the dumps, and “eating their emotions”? If they are the former, hang around those people more! If they are the latter, you need to get yourself around friends who motivate you to put you and your body first!

If you kick things off with the above three steps, observe any changes you experience over the coming weeks. You may be surprised to see that your mindset is beginning to improve. When you are in a positive mindset, you’re therefore more likely to make better choices for yourself, and of course your body is more likely to respond in a positive way because your belief system is changing!

Try this for a month, and check in here or on my Facebook page, to update us on your progress! I am so excited for you!!!
