<p>While some people say that no, you should not have protein with every meal to lose fat, others are saying you <em>definitely</em> need protein with every meal!</p>
<p>My ex hubby was a body builder (where muscle building and fat loss was key), and the <a title="Fit Yummy Mummy" href="http://overweightandunhappy.com/fym.html" target="_blank">Fit Yummy Mummy</a> ladies are proof that yes, by all means each meal should include protein if you want to burn body fat!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There is one thing you MUST do if you&#8217;re ever going to succeed at losing weight.  This thing has nothing to do with buying the right exercise equipment, or joining a gym or even writing out your eating plans. In fact, it has nothing to do with the actual process of losing weight at all!</p>
<p>Ok, I bet you&#8217;re wondering what this &#8220;thing&#8221; is, right?</p>
<p>Well&#8230; it&#8217;s quite a simple &#8220;thing&#8221;!</p>
<p>What you must do if you&#8217;re ever going to succeed at losing weight, is to work out WHY you want to lose weight!</p>
<p>If your reasoning is &#8220;because my doctor said I needed to&#8221;, or &#8220;because I feel fat&#8221;, then it&#8217;s unlikely you&#8217;ll lose the weight and keep it off for very long.  In fact, you may eventually put on more weight than when you started!</p>
<p>Ok, so what if you could come up with a better reason to lose weight?  Would that make a difference? </p>
<p>You bet it will!</p>
<p>Often what happens is that you start off feeling all motivated, you join the gym and you train religiously.  Until something else comes along to distract you.  Next you&#8217;re making excuses as to why you can&#8217;t go to the gym tonight, then this week, then this month, and eventually you&#8217;re not going at all.</p>
<p>The reason why this happens is because once the initial motivation dies off, there&#8217;s nothing left to inspire you to keep going.  You&#8217;re not working towards achieving something you&#8217;re passionate about.</p>
<p>Let me give you some examples of inspirational reasons to lose weight</p>
<p>-You have a lifelong dream of competing in a triathlon, so in order to achieve this goal, you need to train regularly and eat properly &#8211; this of course will move you towards your weight loss goal too.</p>
<p>-  You have young children and it is your number one priority to see them grow up and raise their own children.  You want to be there for all of that, and you want to be the best grandparent ever.  If you&#8217;re overweight now, your chances of being around when they come along are reduced, and it&#8217;s not like you&#8217;ll be able to get around as much and spend quality time with your grandchildren anyway because of your weight.</p>
<p>- You have a friend or family member who died or is seriously ill or disabled due to their obesity.  You want to lose weight in their honour.</p>
<p>- You have seen what happens to somebody who is seriously overweight and you NEVER want to be in that situation &#8211; EVER.</p>
<p>- You have a goal to inspire young people and you want to live by example where your health is concerned.</p>
<p>These are just some of the many reasons why somebody would want to lose weight, and notice that none of them are because &#8220;somebody told me I should lose weight&#8221;.  They&#8217;re reasons that come from your heart.</p>
<p>Basically it comes down to this:  You need to believe that losing weight is going to bring you a LOT more benefits than staying as you are or gaining weight.  You also need to believe that staying as you are or gaining weight will be the worst of the worst outcomes!</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s an exercise for you:</p>
<p>Grab a notebook (or even post it in the comments here!), and write down as many reasons as you possibly can as to why losing weight and getting fit is going to be the best thing ever!  Remember your reasons as to &#8220;why&#8221; you want to lose weight and include them here!</p>
<p>Now, write down all of the reasons why staying as you are or gaining weight is going to be the worst thing ever!</p>
<p>Try to make your &#8220;good&#8221; list longer if you can!  <img src='http://overweightandunhappy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Now, the next time you&#8217;re lacking motivation or inspiration, look at your lists and feel the difference inside you!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-338" title="995897_36063553" src="http://overweightandunhappy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/995897_36063553-150x150.jpg" alt="995897_36063553" width="150" height="150" />Want to know how to get into the exercise habit?  If you do, then you&#8217;re probably like 99% of the population and you&#8217;re having trouble just staying motivated right?</p>
<p>There are several reasons why we struggle to stay motivated, and here are some of them:</p>
<ol>
<li>Too tired &#8211; by the time you&#8217;ve finished work and arrived home, all you want to do is eat then go to bed!</li>
<li>Not enough time &#8211; Our lives are getting busier, and putting aside just 15 minutes a day means you&#8217;ve got to put of doing something else that you think is more important.</li>
<li>Your weight loss goals are too high &#8211; sometimes when we aim too high, we tend to let those negative voices in that tell us we&#8217;ll never do it.  Big goals are great, but they should be broken down in to smaller, manageable chunks.</li>
<li>You&#8217;re just not in the habit of exercising &#8211; this is a biggy.   Create a habit like this, and you will have no trouble staying motivated, and you&#8217;re about to find out how to do it!</li>
</ol>
<p>Ok, so you know why it&#8217;s so difficult to stay on track when you want to lose weight by exercising, but how do you get into the exercise habit easily?</p>
<p>These pointers will get you on your way:</p>
<ol>
<li>Start with a goal, and like I said above, if it&#8217;s a big one, then great, but break it down into smaller chunks.  For example, if you want to lose 20 pounds within 8 months, start with a goal to lose 5 pounds in two months, or something like that.</li>
<li>Write your goal down, in the present tense, as though you have already achieved it.  Write it on the back of a card (or several cards) and put them around your house, in your pocket or in your purse so you&#8217;re constantly reminded of your goal.</li>
<li>Get yourself an exercise buddy.  If you have a friend who also has trouble feeling motivated, then perfect!  You can push and support each other along the way!</li>
<li>Start very small.  If you&#8217;re planning to exercise 30 minutes a day and that seems too much right now, start really small and do only 5 minutes a day, gradually building up as time goes on.</li>
<li>Try to do some exercise at least every second day.  Don&#8217;t overdo it though &#8211; starting off too hard may cause you to give up because it&#8217;s too hard.</li>
<li>To keep yourself accountable, tell your friends, family and coworkers what you&#8217;re doing, and suggest to them that you might need a bit of a push at times!  I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;d love to help you out!  ;)</li>
<li>Think of things you can do to reward yourself as you reach each mini goal.  After you&#8217;ve lost your first 5 pounds, you might treat yourself to a pedicure.  After the next 5, you could buy yourself a small piece of jewelry to remind yourself about how far you&#8217;ve come.  When you finally reach your end goal, then maybe a new outfit would be appropriate?</li>
<li>Setbacks can happen, but that&#8217;s ok as long as you get back on track as soon as you can.  Don&#8217;t beat yourself and keep moving forward.</li>
<li>Stay focused!</li>
</ol>
