Watch your calorie intake to lose weight

The traditional belief about how to lose weight is that you need to burn more calories than you consume, and for the most part, that’s right, but what I am going to tell you might surprise you, because if your calorie intake is too low, you could end up putting on more weight, rather than lose weight. In fact, you very likely will!

We all have a basal metabolic rate (or BMR). This is the rate at which our bodies burn calories, based on our gender, our age, our height and of course our activity level.

Once you know your BMR (click HERE to sign up for the Truth About Abs free fat loss report and get your free downloadable BMR calculator), you will know what calorie range you need to consume each day to either gain, maintain or lose weight.

The problem with many people is that they believe that to lose weight, they should just reduce the number of calories they are consuming. Some even resort to skipping meals in order to keep their calorie intake down or they just eat too few calories (way less than they should be).

The problem with this method is that starving your body like this lowers your metabolism. Our bodies are very complex and indeed very clever. Once you start starving your body, it becomes very efficient at storing fat. It does this so that it has somewhere to draw from when it needs energy. Whenever you eat, your body goes into “storage mode” and therefore if you wanted to lose some inches off your hips, you’re definitely going the wrong way about it because lowering your metabolism means more fat on your hips (and everywhere else!).

If you want to increase your metabolism, it’s time to start eating more often. Eating healthy food every 3 hours or so, 5 to 6 times a day is what you need to do. This teaches your body to hurry up and burn those calories because it knows more food is on its way only a few hours later!

Find out what your BMR is (again, sign up for the free Fat Loss Report from the Truth About Abs website and get your free downloadable calculator), and make sure you spread the suggested calorie intake over the 5 to 6 meals you are going to eat today and see what a difference it can make.

What is the best way to lose weight quick?

Is there a best way to lose weight quick? Of course there is! There are definitely bad ways to lose weight quick and they involve diet pills, miracle or fad diets and diets that suggest you cut out foods you need (such as carbs, for example).

So if you want to know the best way is to lose weight quick, here’s what you need to do:

1. Eat 5 to 6 meals a day - this helps to build your metabolism which is essential to weight loss.

2. Make sure you eat plenty of protein, fruit, vegetables and complex carbs at each meal - healthy food like this is harder for your body to digest, therefore requiring more energy. This is good for weight loss.

3. Avoid trans fats, sodas and any other sugary or processed foods. These are not helping you (although refer to point number 10 for a bit of relief!).

4. Exercise for 90 minutes a week - MAX!

5. Include 15 minutes of resistance training, 3 times a week in your exercise routine. The more muscle you build, the higher your metabolism will be (don’t worry girls - we don’t get bulky like guys do!).

6. Include 15 minutes of intervals training, 3 times a week in your exercise routine. Combine this with your resistance training and your metabolism will remain higher for over 24 hours. This is really good for weight loss!

7. If you don’t really know what you should eat or what exercises you should do, then find yourself a weight loss program that doesn’t promise miracles but does promise results. Try the Truth About Abs program or the Fit Yummy Mummy program. These are by far the best I have ever found.

8. Believe you can do it.

9. Stick to it.

10. Allow yourself a small treat once a week. This treat could include some “bad” food and as long as you watch your portion sizes, you will find that you can still lose weight even with a bad treat every now and then. Both of the programs mentioned above allow you to have this treat too!

As for whether you will lose weight quickly or not by following a great program like the programs promoted on my website, really depends on how well you stick to the plan. It will also to some extent depend on your genetics, but this is by far the best way to lose weight and keep it off.

If you are desperate to lose weight quickly, then here’s what you must do right now…

Check out the Truth About Abs and the Fit Yummy Mummy programs and find out what you have been doing wrong up until this point.

In no time you will have the body you only ever dreamed of having - if others like you can do it, then why can’t you?

Desperate to Lose Weight Quickly? You’d Better Read This!

Many people who want to lose weight are desperate to lose weight quickly. I am sure that if we could all snap our fingers and instantly lose weight, we would be thrilled!

Unfortunately it’s not that easy, and many are sucked in by the “fad” and “miracle” diets out there. Problem with these is that they provide no long-term benefits, and many people put on weight and end up heavier than they were before they started! What a waste of time and money!

Don’t let this put you off though because there is a way to lose weight that’s easy and effective as I have found and as I have featured on my website.

If you are desperate to lose weight quickly, consider the following tips:

- You need to commit to your decision to lose weight.

- You must find yourself a decent weight loss program to follow. Remember that “fad” and “miracle” diets are nothing but a waste of your time, money and effort.

- Know that you are going to have to make some changes to your diet, whether you like it or not (sorry!).

- You WILL have to exercise! But don’t worry - the program I am following only requires that you do a maximum of 90 minutes a week. That’s only 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week!

- Never, EVER starve yourself!! Doing so will only lower your metabolism. Low metabolism = no weight loss! Remember that!

- If you’re not sure about whether to run on a treadmill for half an hour, or do intervals for 15 minutes, take the intervals - you will lose a LOT more weight in the long run.

- If you can’t afford to pay for a good weight loss program (as featured on this website), do yourself a favour and subscribe to the free newsletter and the free fat loss report offered, and be sure to download any free items you receive in return for your subscription. The good thing about these is that you can unsubscribe at any time.

You have probably realized by now that losing weight is going to take some effort, but if you find the right weight loss program, and you’re desperate to lose weight quickly, then you will do just that!

Lose 30 Pounds In 20 Weeks!

That’s what a lady I know of did recently.  For so many people, losing weight seems to be a losing battle.  The problem is that they’re doing it the wrong way, or they just don’t stick to it.

Many weight loss programs are also lacking in good information and once your “diet” is finished, you end up putting on on what you lost (and then some!), sending you right back to square one. This is extremely frustrating but very common. It is little wonder there are so many overweight people in the world!

Now, what if you were to read a story of a woman who lost 30 pounds in only 20 weeks, who felt great, didn’t have to exercise for hours at a time and who didn’t have to starve herself to get there?

Well that’s what I did the other morning. I was reading through yet another Fit Yummy Mummy (FYM) success story of a 38 year old woman who had lost 30 pounds in 20 weeks. She had tried other weight loss programs before but none of them had worked. Until now.

Another funny thing about the FYM program is that many women (like myself) have to remind ourselves when to eat because we’re not left hungry all day like many diets.  We also feel like we’re not doing nearly enough exercise!

The FYM program is all about eating often and eating healthy. This is the most important aspect of losing weight in a healthy way. Also, exercise is a must, with a maximum of 90 minutes a week of your time required. This can be broken down into various combinations, such as 15 minutes a day, 6 days a week, or even 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week - as long as you fit in your 90 minutes!  The FYM program shows you exactly what exercises you need to do, how to do them and when.

The FYM program is the best I’ve seen so far and it is so flexible that there really is no excuse for not sticking to it. You will learn exactly what you need to do to lose weight, once and for all!

3 Common Reasons Why Women Fail To Lose Weight

June 8, 2008 by Michelle Green

How often do you hear of a story of a person who has tried to lose weight but has failed?

Why is this so, when losing weight isn’t really all that hard and really only takes a change to your eating and exercise habits?

I have had clients who have suffered with the same problem, and there are three common reasons for failing as I will outline here:

1. They don’t have a specific, compelling goal - just wanting to lose weight isn’t going to be enough.  Why do you want to lose weight? How much do you want to lose? When do you want to lose it by? What will be different when you lose weight?

2. They think they will fail - Henry Ford once said “Those who think they can and those who think they can’t are both right”.  How right he was!  If you don’t think you can successfully lose weight, then chances are you will give up at the very first obstacle.

3. They don’t put themselves first - This is more for the women out there (sorry guys). Women have a terrible habit of putting their family/husband/others first and they put their own needs at the bottom of their list.

Well times have to change right now!  How can you be the best person you can be if you’re overweight?  If you have children, how can you have the energy to play with your children?  What will happen to your family if you were do die from an illness caused by your weight?  How can this be putting your children or family first??

Isn’t this enough reason to do something right now?

Ok, there is actually a 4th reason I probably should mention here, and that is that most people who fail to lose weight do so because they don’t know how to do it the right way.

There are so many so-called “miracle” or “fad” diets out there, it’s little wonder people get confused.

But remember this - any weight loss program that makes amazing promises of success without changes to your diet or exercise routine will NOT work long term, if at all!  Please don’t get sucked in by diet pills either.  The only thing you are going to lose is money, and very likely your health.

The Fit Yummy Mummy program (for the girls - you don’t have to be a Mum!) and Truth About Abs programs (this one’s for the boys) are fantastic programs based on the same principal - Eating nutritious, healthy food and exercising regularly.

If you want to be around for long enough to enjoy your family then you really should check them out today.

Why Not Eating Enough Can Cause You to Gain Weight

June 8, 2008 by Michelle Green

Did you know that not eating enough can cause you to gain weight, not lose weight? If you want to lose weight, then this can come as quite a surprise.  If you’re like many people, you’ve probably been skipping meals in hope you will shed a few pounds right?

So how can not eating enough cause you to gain weight?

It is all related your metabolism. The higher your metabolism, the more fat your body burns. If you have a low metabolism, then of course the amount of fat your body burns is reduced.

Skipping meals or not eating enough actually teaches your body to become really good at storing fat. Why? Because it needs to, in case it is starved again in future!

Your body needs fuel to work properly, so if you don’t provide it with enough, it will take as much as it can the next time you feed it and store it as fat so it will have fuel the next time it is starved of food.

Sounds logical, doesn’t it? So how do we effectively lose weight?

First you need to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (or BMR). The formula to help you calculate this is at http://overweightandunhappy.com/weight-loss-tips/how-to-calculate-your-basal-metabolic-rate/

Once you have worked this out, it’s time to start completing a food diary. Write down what you are eating and the quantities consumed. From there you can work out whether you’re consuming enough (or too much).

A great way to increase your metabolic rate is to eat more often. Eat around 5 to 6 times a day, spreading your calories out over the day, and you will see a huge difference.

Another way to tell if you’re eating enough calories is to check your energy levels. If you’re feeling like you have no energy or you’re making no progress in your fitness program, then it’s very likely because you’re not eating enough.

Most importantly, most of your calories should be coming from proteins, fruit and vegetables and some complex carbohydrates.  If you’re eating a lot of fried or processed foods, these could be sabotaging your weight loss progress, so try to reduce these types of foods as much as you possibly can or even cut them out completely.

So remember, eat at least 5 to 6 times a day, make sure you’re eating enough (based on your BMR) and eat as many quality foods as you can. The Fit Yummy Mummy program takes you through everything you need to know about what to eat to lose weight and is definitely worth looking at if you’re a woman looking to lose weight.

If you’re a guy, then you should definitely look at the Truth About Abs program.  This program is almost exactly the same as the Fit Yummy Mummy program, however the exercises are definitely more male-orientated!

Are you overweight and unhappy?

Many would argue that there are plenty of people out there who are overweight and they are perfectly happy, but I question that statement.  Are they truly happy about EVERYTHING including their weight??

While I’m more than happy with life in general, I am not happy about my roll of baby fat!  No, my life isn’t a mess because of my “roll”, and I live a happy, fun life, but I know I have the power to get rid of that roll, and because I’ve not actually done anything about it, I feel like I’ve let myself down.

Maybe now that I have found a great way to lose that roll once and for all, I’ll commit myself to actually doing so!?  Will I feel better afterwards?  Of course I will!  I would have achieved yet another goal!  Will my husband be happy if I achieve my goal?  Of COURSE he will!  ;-)
